New Zealand are relieved that Virender Sehwag has been ruled out of the Tri-series and the ICC Champions Trophy.

According to a report in Stuff.co.nz, New Zealand players expressed their relief at Indian opener's absence.

"It is a relief," said vice-captain Brendon McCullum when he was asked about Sehwag not playing in the Tri-series in Sri Lanka.

"He really tore us apart. The way he played against us in the home series, he was pretty terrifying at the top of the order. It is a bit of a blow for the Indian team not have him in their side," McCullum added.

Virender Sehwag is out of the Indian squad from the ongoing Tri-series in Sri Lanka and the ICC Champions Trophy to be played later this month.
