At the close of day 2, Stone and Yalden were the men out. SB prints a poem about this match indicating that Surrey won the toss and also informing us that play was interrupted by bad weather, that Lewis played despite illness, and that Wood of Kent suffered some unspecified, but apparently serious, foot injury. The poem also confirms that W Bartholomew (as given) is correct, note the line 'I a vicar's son' (William was the son of the Rev Charles Bartholomew of Chertsey). The teams are listed by social status; the batting order is not known, except that Hussey was last man in Kent (1).
