Lancashire 2nd XI won by 108 runs at 1.00 pm on the third day, thus winning the Championship in their second year in the competition. The Lancashire 2nd XI Captain, Ainscough, choose not to enforce the follow-on, despite being 169 runs ahead on first innings. Glamorgan needed 291 runs to win in their second innings with over a day to score them. For the winners, Heap played a major role, opening both the batting and bowling in both innings, scoring 119 runs and taking 9 wickets for 87 runs. Heap's 81 included 11 fours and Higson's 65 4 fours. For the losers, J H Brain's 80 contained 1 five and 7 fours. In the Glamorgan first innings, Preedy was out obstructing the field, the first time this had occurred in a Championship match. He prevented Blomley taking a catch behind the wicket. The 25 maidens bowled by Heap in the match were equal second highest during the season. J H Brain kept wicket in the Lancashire 2nd XI second innings. W.H.Brain was run out without facing a ball in the Glamorgan second innings.
