This return match was drawn, as had been the earlier encounter between the two teams in July at Northampton. For Durham there were 8 fours in Adamson's 51, while for the away side H E Kingston's 61 included 10 fours and Pool's 50 contained 7 fours. When dismissing Lambert in the Durham first innings Thompson took his one hundredth wicket in Championship cricket. By coinidence, the feat had been achieved twice earlier on the same day by the brothers A and P Rogers for Oxfordshire in the match against Wiltshire at Banbury.
