Monmouthshire won this return match by 113 runs at 3.55 pm on the second day. The match between the two sides at Exeter at the beginning of July had been won by Devon. For the winners Steeples took 12 wickets in the match for 118 runs, including 7 for 66 in the Devon second innings. There were 6 fours in Silverlock's 63. Orchard was absent hurt in the Devon second innings. J F Orchard injured a knee towards the end of Monmouthshire's second innings and was unable to take any further part in the match.
