Durham won this low-scoring return match by 30 runs mid-afternoon on the second day, after Yorkshire 2nd XI had been set a victory target of 101. On the second day, rain delayed the start of the Yorkshire second innings until after lunch. The match between the two sides at South Shields in June had also been won by Durham. For the losers, Broadbent took 10 wickets in the match for 59 runs. No batsman reached fifty.
