| Player: | T Armitage |
Tom Armitages performances in his two Tests - the first two played - were said to be far below his normal form, although he was given little opportunity to display his unusual bowling. He combined medium pace round-arm delivery with slow lobs, the latter earning him 13 wickets for Yorkshire against Surrey in 1876, and making a great impression on James Southerton, who thought it was as good example of lob bowling as he'd ever seen. He was an all-rounder, a competent bat, and excellent fielder. Emigrating to the USA after his retirement, he died in Chicago.
