Abdool Samad is a gifted all rounder who can bowl off spin, medium pace and keep wicket. He represented Canada at the Under-19 level and made his debut for the senior team in 2000. Born in Guyana, he is the younger brother of Fazil Samad, also a member of the national squad. At Under-19 level he took part in the West Indies regional Under-19 competition for Canada, and recorded figures of 10-3-11-5 against a Nortel Development XI in 1998/99. He has limited opportunities for the senior team, but his all-round abilities has secured him a place in the World Cup squad. He plays for Cavaliers in the Toronto and District League, and made an impressive 140* against Toronto CC in 2002.
