CHATER, Leathley.

Born at Camberwell, London, 23rd December 1858.
Died at Littlehampton, Sussex, 5th May 1931.
The son of H.Chater, of 43 Cornwall Gardens, London, SW. He was educated at Harrow, where he was a member of the cricket eleven in 1875, in which year he left.
He became a merchant in London. In 1911 he was living at 11 Waldegrave Gardens, Strawberry Hill, London.
At the time of the 1881 Census he was living at home with his father, Henry, aged 54, who was a window glass and lead merchant, and his mother aged 56, born in St.Helens, Lancashire. Leathley, aged 22 is described as a clerk to a glass and lead merchant. Lucy, his sister, is aged 19. There were five domestic servants.
