MYCROFT, Thomas.

Born at Brimington, Derbyshire, 28th March 1848.
Died at Mickleover, Derbyshire, 13th August 1911.
He was the half-brother of William Mycroft who played for Derbyshire 1873-85. He only played in 24 first-class matches, 16 of them for Derbyshire, being a wicket-keeper he found it difficult to replace the Derbyshire regulars. He was on the ground staff at Lords for 22 years and a first-class umpire 1897-1905, standing in two Test Matches.
His benefit at Lords was favoured with good weather and raised £1,000.
In the 1881 Census he was living at 65 Crompton Street, Ilkeston, Derbyshire, aged 32 and an iron moulder. His wife is Betsy, aged 30 and their son is Frank, aged 7. They have as a boarder George Mycroft, aged 24, a pipe turner.
