O’BRIEN, Timothy Carew.
Amateur.
Born at Dublin, Ireland, 5th November 1861.
Died at Ramsey, Isle of Man, 9th December 1948.
The son of the second baronet O’Brien, he was educated at Downside School and St Charles’ College, Notting Hill, London. He went up to New Inn Hall, Oxford in 1884.
His debut in first-class cricket was for Middlesex in 1881 and between then and 1914 he played in 266 first-class matches, 156 of them for Middlesex and five of them being Test Matches. He toured Australia 1887/8 and South Africa 1895/6. He also played for Ireland 1902-07. Whilst at Oxford he won his cricket blue 1884-85. He was a Lieutenant in the Derbyshire Yeomanry 1898-1900, and later Captain in the 5th Battalion (Militia) Royal Irish Fusiliers. He served with the Remounts during the First World War and was an Hon Major in the Army. He succeeded as the third baronet in 1895 and in 1905 his address was Lohort Castle, Mallow, County Cork.
He does not appear in the 1881 Census, presumably he was in Ireland.
