Brief profile of Younis Ahmed
by Dr.A.K.Hignell

Player:Younis Ahmed

The well-travelled Younis Ahmed joined Glamorgan in 1984 after a long career with Surrey, and a much briefer one with Worcestershire.

The left-handed batsman spent three years with the Welsh county, and won his county cap in 1985 - a season that saw him share a record 4th wicket partnership of 306 runs with Javed Miandad against the Australians at Neath, as well as scoring 177 in the Championship match against Middlesex at Sophia Gardens.

He was released by Glamorgan at the end of the 1986 season, yet the following winter he briefly re-appeared in Test cricket for Pakistan. He had made his Test debut in 1969/70, but was subsequently banned by the Pakistani authorities after visiting South Africa with D.H.Robins XI in 1973/74.
