by Dr.A.K.Hignell

Player:CJPG van Zyl

Corrie Van Zyl joined Glamorgan in 1987 as the club sought an overseas pace bowler. He had a good record playing for the Orange Free State in South Africa, but he only appeared in 12 first-class games for Glamorgan in 1987 and 1988, and struggled with niggling injuries.

Indeed, after sustaining an injury, Van Zyl returned to the Cape midway through the 1988 season. He returned to fitness in South Africa, and subsequently played in 2 One Day Internationals in 1991/92.

Van Zyl continued to play for the Orange Free State until 1994/95 and in recent years, he has embarked on a coaching career, and has been Assistant Coach of the South African side.
