WILSON, Charles Plumpton.
Amateur.
Born at Roydon, Norfolk, 12th May 1859.
Died at Eckling Grange, East Dereham, Norfolk, 9th March 1938.
The son of the Rev. P.S. Wilson, West Pinchbeck Parsonage, Spalding, Lincolnshire, he was educated at Uppingham and Marlborough, where he was a member of the cricket eleven 1876-77 and of the football twenty in 1876.. He went up to Trinity College, Cambridge, where he proved an outstanding all-round sportsman. He represented the University in the twenty-five mile bicycle race against Oxford in 1879, won his blue at rugby football in 1877 and 1880, and at cricket 1880-81. Although he only played in ten first-class cricket matches he played rugby football against Wales in 1881 and association football against Scotland and Wales in 1884.
His county cricket was for Lincolnshire in 1880 and Norfolk from 1881 to 1884. He became an assistant master at Elstree School, Hertfordshire 1881-98 and from 1898 headmaster of Sanroyd Preparatory School, Cobham, Surrey.
No trace of him could be found in the 1881 Census.
