Died 10.3.1914 Moordown, Bournemouth, Hampshire.

 

He played his club cricket for Longsight, Manchester, where during 1864 and 1865 he scored a total of 125 runs in twenty-one matches, with an average of five.

 

On 24th and 25th June 1864, at the Wavertree Ground, Liverpool, playing for the Gentlemen of Lancashire against Fifteen Colts of Lancashire, he scored 10 and 6, going in last.

 

The following year he played in his only first-class match for Lancashire, against Middlesex at Islington. Lancashire had won the Old Trafford fixture by 62 runs, but only four of that team could make the trip to London for the return match. One of the four was E.J.Bousfield, also a member of Longsight, and he was presumably involved in Moorsom's selection. He scored 5 and 7, batting at number nine. Lancashire lost by six wickets.

 

Almost five years later, in January 1869, he played in Trinidad's first two first-class matches, both against Demerara (or British Guiana) at Savannah, Port of Spain, Trinidad. Batting at number seven he made 12 and 7 in the first match and 0 and 2 in the second. An enthusiast rather than a performer?

 

At the time of the 1881 Census he was living at 5 Trafford Mount, Chester Road, Stretford, aged 45 born in London, a civil engineer, with his wife Mary, aged 47 born at Boston, Lincolnshire, there is an unmarried resident companion with a ten year old daughter and one domestic servant.
