A familiar pattern is emerging form Lancashire's first four championship matches - Develop a strong match winning position, and then be denied by the weather. On the third day of this encounter with Essex, persistent heavy rain prevented any play. Ironically enough, the third day of the home match against Nottinghamshire was also washed out. Roll-on summer!
