| Scorecard: | Lancashire v Essex |
Summary for Day 4
Only 27 balls were bowled on the last day of this county championship encounter with Essex, thus consigning Lancashire to their fourth successive winning draw in a row. The weather has denied Lancashire a much deserved win twice in London, and twice in Manchester. Thankfully, Lancashire's excellent batting and bowling performances have reaped 30 points from the 32 which were available. Consequently, and perhaps somewhat bizarrely, Lancashire still find themselves in third place of the league table. Their performances bode well for the remainder of the season, although it would have been preferable to have a win under their belts while Flintoff and Anderson were not otherwise engaged.
