Shadab Jakati claimed four important wickets, as Chennai Super Kings stunned Delhi Daredevils by 18 runs at the New Wanderers Stadium. Chasing 164 runs, Delhi Daredevils managed 145/8 in 20 overs. Delhi Daredevils lost Mithun Manhas (0), David Warner (51) and Dinesh Karthik (52) in quick succession, as Chennai Super Kings kept their nerves till the end.

 

Opener David Warner was done in by a beautiful work behind the stumps by MS Dhoni off Shadab Jakati. His 51-run innings was studded with five fours and a six. Warner alongwith revived Dinesh Karthik played some exquisite shots after the strategy break all over the park to keep Daredevils in hunt. Dinesh Karthik was also claimed by Jakati in pursuit of big hits.

 

Daredevils got off to a shaky start and lost skipper Gautam Gambhir (13) and in-form AB de Villiers (0) to Sudeep Tyagi in the fourth over. Saviour Tillakaratne Dilshan was clean bowled by a beauty from Shadab Jakati trying to accelerate.

 

Ealier, Dirk Nannes and Ashish Nehra claimed three wickets each, as Delhi Daredevils bundle out Chennai Super Kings for 163 runs in 20 overs at the New Wanderers Stadium. Rajat Bhatia took two wickets. Chennai floundered the good start given by their top order batsmen and kept losing wickets after regular intervals after the strategy break. Subramaniam Badrinath got into momentum straightaway after the strategic break and hammered 45 runs in 34 balls. He was dismissed by Rajat Bhatia, just when he looked to get into his groove. Suresh Raina's innings of 32 runs was studded with two fours and two sixes. He was caught by Tillakaratne Dilshan at the deep mid-wicket trying to go for the maximum.

 

Big names like Albie Morkel, MS Dhoni and Jacob Oram failed to move into the double figures. Chennai Super Kings lost opener Murali Vijay (14) and Matthew Hayden (30) after a steady start against Delhi. Pradeep Sangwan got rid of dangerous Hayden in the sixth over. Hayden's 30-run innings included four fours and a six. Rajat Bhatia caught Vijay at the covers when he top edged one off Ashish Nehra.

 

Gambhir was leading the Daredevils in the absence of injured Virender Sehwag. Delhi included David Warner and Rajat Bhatia for Sehwag and Daniel Vettori..
