DateLine: 13th June 2009
Matthew Hoggard tore apart the Somerset top-order with a superb spell of swing bowling as Yorkshire fought back. Craig Kieswetter led SomersetÂ’s fightback, followed by Alfonso Thomas, who carried on the job, along with several other sturdy performers. Yorkshire began the day on 269 for 8, added only eight more runs before their innings closed. Charl Willoughby and Thomas took a wicket each, thus both finishing the innings with three wickets each. Yorkshire fought back with a roar, as Hoggard removed Marcus Trescothick and Justin Langer in the first over as Somerset was left rocking at 0 for 2 in the very first over.

James Hildreth struck five boundaries, two in the same over from Hoggard, in his 20 before he steered a ball to third slip and then Zander de Bruyn was trapped lbw first ball. Kieswetter led a stirring Somerset fightback and finally, on 83, he slashed at a widish ball from Ajmal Shahzad and Brophy took a fine diving catch. Somerset was dismissed for 230 and Yorkshire led by 47. Yorkshire had 13 overs to face before the close.LATEST SCORES
