For someone who has been a consistent performer over the years in Australian domestic cricket, this surge as a back-up keeper for Brad Haddin for the Ashes is a just reward. The call-up came 10 years after his domestic debut and was propelled by his two Pura Cup centuries in a collection of 647 runs to go with 33 dismissals. In the process he dodged the likes Chris Hartley, Matthew Wade and the deposed Luke Ronchi.

But it was not always so smooth for the 30-year-old. He was dropped by South Australia a couple of seasons ago but Manou came back strongly and overcame all challenges to fight his way back into South Australia's Pura Cup team again. In fact he ended up as captain by the end of it. He also finished as the top run-scorer by far, with 596 runs at 37.25.LATEST SCORES
