The visiting Australian women ended the English team’s euphoria of winning the world title, upsetting the champions by 34 runs in the only Twenty20 match of the series.

 

Batting first, the Aussies got contributions from all their top-order batters to notch up 151/3 in 20 overs, with Karen Rolton remaining unbeaten on 43 off 37 balls.

 

In reply, the English women never got any momentum and kept falling behind by the over. Only Claire Taylor provided some resistance but it wasn’t enough.

 

Rene Farell and Erin Osborne claimed two wickets each.
