Indian fast bowler Zaheer Khan is likely to be miss Champions Trophy 2009 starting late September, after undergoing a shoulder surgery in South Africa last month. He could miss the seven-match home ODI series against Australia in November-December as well if the recovery is not complete.
Zaheer damaged his left shoulder while attempting a dive during the IPL in South Africa in May. He was in the squad for the ICC World T20 2009 in England but missed the following four-match ODI series in the West Indies.
The 30-year-old has been advised a minimum of three months' rest after his shoulder was operated upon by Dr Mark Ferguson, who has successfully treated Sachin Tendulkar and former players Javagal Srinath and Anil Kumble in the past.
