New Zealand skipper Daniel Vettori has rejected suggestions that he should move higher up the Test side's batting order following his brilliant batting against Sri Lanka.

 

Vettori hit his highest Test score of 140 as the Black Caps lost by 96 runs to lose the series 2-0.

 

Since then many including former New Zealand captain Martin Crowe has called for Vettori, to shift to six.

 

But Vettori, who is also now a member of the Black Caps selection panel, believes he already has enough on his plate including "the burden of bowling a lot of overs and captaining the team".

 

"I'm sure it will be a question that is asked over the next little while but I'm comfortable with where I'm at. It's working so why change it."

 

Vettori also gave other reasons as to why this decision could alter the balance of the side by seeing players like Jacob Oram and Brendon McCullum going the other way.

 

"It's a tough one because Jacob Oram bats ahead of me and he has five Test match hundreds and an average of 36 with the bat so that's a proven record," he told Radio Sport.

 

"We think Brendon McCullum is a really good player. If I went up it would only put those guys further down."
