Ramsbottom have signed Aakash Chopra as professional for 2010. Former Rochdale professional Chopra has played ten Test matches for India between 2003 and 2004. In all First-class matches the 31 year-old right hander has scored 9008 runs at 46.9 with 24 centuries. His right arm medium pace has been used sparingly in picking up 6 First-class victims.

 

Chopra follows in the footsteps of Gul Mohammed, Bapu Nadkarni, Karson Ghavri, Kartik Murali and Sunil Joshi as Ramsbottom's sixth Indian professional. The club expect the former Kolkata Knight Riders star to be available for the whole season.

 

Ramsbottom have already been strengthened by the return of left arm spinning all rounder Jon Fielding from the professional ranks.
