South Africa suffered a major blow to their hopes of winning the ODI series against England when all-rounder Jacques Kallis was ruled out of the series with a rib injury. He is also a doubtful starter for the opening Test at Centurion Park on December 16.

"He just wasn't getting better from that injury," Mickey Arthur, the South Africa coach, said. "We had him re-scanned this morning and found there is a fracture in the cartilage of the rib - which clearly affects his performances for the next four weeks.
Kallis who normally opens the innings for South Africa in ODIs seemed to have suffered the injury when playing for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the recently concluded Champions League in October.
South Africa are expected to give Loots Bosman a chance to replace Kallis at the top of the order. Kallis' injury means that South Africa will also lose a bowler who can bowl consistently in the middle overs.LATEST SCORES
