Event: | West Indies in Australia 2009/10 |
DateLine: 20th December 2009
Australia did not take long to take the final wicket of Roach to take home the series 2-0. Australia won easily at Gabba, hung on to draw in Adelaide, and then clinched the Perth Test by 35 runs after dominating most of the Test. West Indies on the other hand showed remarkable spirit by fighting back after a demoralising Test at Gabba where they lost by a huge margin.

West Indies started the day at 308 for nine with Roach and Tonge resuming the innings with a hope that they could survive long to take Windies home. Watson started of with a maiden while Bollinger leaked five runs as Windies closed onto the target. In the next over Watson very nearly had Tonge when the tailender had an almighty heave across the line and inside edged it past his leg stump and many thought that they were in for some sort of miracle. In the next over Roach slashed one over point for a boundary as just 36 runs separated Windies from a historic win. But of the next ball Roach (17) edged one from Bollinger through to Haddin and the on-field umpire upheld the decision.
Roach was unhappy with the decision and he challenged it. The third umpire had a long look at the dismissal with all the evidence provided to him and finally went with the on-field umpire's decision.
Chris Gayle was declared the man of the match and also the man of the series.LATEST SCORES
