The first innings lead came to Karnataka's rescue as they reached the last four. The home side had a lead of 78 runs as the quarterfinal match against Punjab ended in a tame draw.
 
Punjab, resuming on 165 for one did not approach the innings in an aggressive manner as the visitors just kept going with the flow. For Punjab Uday Kaul batted fluently compiling a well-made 89 (127b, 10x4s) before Vinay Kumar ended his stay.
