Bangladesh continued their mixed bag tour as they showed glimpses of brilliance coupled ordinary display of cricket. The bowling unit after being thrashed around in the first session of play came back strongly to remove the tail cheaply. The batting lead by the talented Tamim Iqbal threatened to snatch the match away from the hosts before the hosts struck back.

 

England in their first innings scored 419 and Bangaldesh in reply made 216 losing all their wickets.

 

Over night batsmen Bell and Prior began from where they left off as they continued to pile up misery on the Bangladeshi team. the bowlers barring Shakib and Shafiul Islam lacked direction and purpose and the English batsmen took full toll on the visiting bowling attack Bell duly reached his eleventh Test century and it had class written all over it. But after reaching his century Bell went into shell and refused to play any attacking shot. Prior too shelved his attacking instincts and relied on singles to keep the scoreboard moving. The pair added 153 in 45.3 overs before Bell was removed by a beauty from Shakib al Hasan.

 

Swann played an attacking cameo before he was trapped leg before by Razzak at the stroke of lunch. The interest reamined as to whether Prior would get his third Test century but the keeper batsman messed it up. Engalnd in the end made 419.

 

Bangladesh was once again provivded a blistering start by Tamim Iqbal who went after the English bowling. Pace and spin were treated alike by Tamim Iqbal and strauss looked lost in the middle. Tamim was well supported by Imrul Kayes as the openers added 126 in 24 overs before Finn provided the breakthrough. Though TamimIqbal scored a century the rest of the batsmen failed to do much of note as the English bowlers regained the control of the Test.

 

Swann the led the bowling attack manfully and he was well supported by the others. Bangladesh were in the end skittled out for 216 in 54.1 overs handin England a massive lead of 203 runs.
