DateLine: 27th August 2010
It was a fluctuating day's play as first Aamer and then Trott and Broad put up a special performance at Lords'. Aamer tore apart England top and middle order with a spell that was reminiscent of Wasim Akram in his pomp. Trott and Broad then pulled England from the deep mire and gave a huge advantage to the hosts.

Resuming the day at 39 for 1 under overcast conditions the English side was rocked by a special burst from Mohammad Aamer. The young left-armer grasped the conditions well and then let the ball do all the talking. Batsmen after batsmen groped and fished fruitlessly. Cook edged one behind the stumps while Pietersen, Collingwood and Morgan failed to score as Aamer simply ripped apart the English batting line-up. Among all the carnage Jonathan Trott stood rock solid and at 47 for 5 he found a good ally in Matt Prior. The pair after an eventful first hour consolidated the innings with a steady partnership as they took the English side to lunch with no more damage. The pair crossed the fifty run partnership and looked comfortable during the stay.
After lunch Aamer once again rocked the English boat as he removed Prior and Swann in space of three deliveries and the English side found themselves at dire straits. Just when the Pakistani side thought that they would wrap up the innings in quick time Broad whose batting in the recent memory has being nothing more than a joke showed great character. The pair slowly but steadily took the English score past the 200 run mark. The repair work slowly gained momentum and the match looked like slipping away from the grasp of Pakistan.
Once the cloud cover disappeared and sun broke through the Pakistani bowlers looked quite innocuous. The support bowlers disappointed for the visitors as Saeed Ajmal and Wahab Riaz failed to maintain any sort of pressure for a consistent period of time. Broad raced to his sixth fifty while Trott marched to his third Test century. Broad soon joined Trott in the century club with some exhilarating strokeplay. Once the day was closed England were placed at 346 for 7.LATEST SCORES
