Warriors inspired by a brutal late-order hitting from Mark Boucher brushed aside Wayamba Elevens with relative ease. The South African side was always in command of the match as first they wrecked the Lankan batting line-up with excellent bowling performance and then chased the target comfortably. It was clinical performance by the hosts as they registered their first points of the tournament.

Electing to bat first Wayamba Elevens were jolted as Theron removed opener Mahela Jayawardene and Mahela Udawatte in the first over of the match. Kulatunga batted the way he knew as he went after the Warriors' bowling hard from the word go. All he needed was a good support at the other end and he found it in the form of Perera who matched the veteran in six hitting spree.

Sixes were launched one after the other with regular intervals as the Lankan side pushed the Warriors on the back foot. The pair added 60 runs in 5.5 overs as the Lankan side was on its way to a huge score. But the pair was separated and the innings went into free-fall. At the close of their 20 overs Warriors had 153 for the loss of 9 wickets.

Warriors in reply never looked in any sort of problem as they went after the bowling. The pacers were ineffective and once Mendis was introduced into the attack the Warriors' batsmen were kept under check. Soon Herath joined the bowling unit and the spin duo kept the Warriors' batsmen under check.

That proved a little too much for the hosts as they lost wickets in a cluster. Soon the famous chokes of South Africa came flooding into one's mind but South African international Mark Boucher who has seen so many heart breaks in his career launched into a furious counter-attack. A 21 run over from Lokuarachchi settled the deal as the hosts sauntered to the target with little problems.
