DateLine: 23rd October 2010

The South African side inspired by centuries of contrasting styles from JP Duminy and AB de Villiers sealed a massive 272-run win. Batting first South Africa compiled a mammoth 399 for 6 on the back of Duminy's and Villiers' centuries. The pair put on a record-breaking 219-run stand for the third wicket. The Zimbabwean bowling attack simply deteriorated as they did not have any answer to what was being unfolded before them.

Batting first Smith and Amla once again tore into the bowling attack and it seemed that Amla was on on course for his third century of the series. None of the Zimbabwean bowlers were able to make any sort of impression on the South African duo as they ran riot. It finally took the off-spin of Utseya to remove Smith while Amla edged behind of Masakadza. That brought together Duminy and de Villiers and the pair attacked from the onset. Both matched each other shot for shot and it was interest to see who would reach their personal landmark first.

The pair was literally unstoppable as they made merry and with the Zimbabwean bowlers being reduced to just cannon fodder the interest remained as to how much would the hosts manage to post. At the end of the 50th over South Africa posted 399 for the loss of six wickets.

The only saving grace for the Zimbabwean side was their batting on this tour. But today even that department came undone as the South African bowlers were right on money from ball number one. Wickets fell in a heap as none of the batsmen made a score above 30. The visitors managed to score 127 in 29 overs thus handing South Africa one of their biggest wins in their ODI history.
