DateLine: 5th January 2014

Todmorden have signed Michael Neser as their new professional.

South African born Neser plays First-class cricket for Queensland.

Todmorden captain Andrew Sutcliffe said: "We are delighted to have recruited Michael for the 2014 season. Michael is currently playing First Class cricket in Australia regularly and for the Adelaide Strikers in the Big Bash T20.

"It has been a while since we have signed an Aussie based pro' and everyone at the club is looking forward to his arrival. Michael comes with a strong recommendation from our former pro' Dan Marsh and Brendan McArdle has negotiated the deal.

"It is Michael's first full season in the UK as a pro and were hoping that the sun shines so that we can see his true pace. Michael has been clocked at 90 mph and we are all confident that he will be successful throughout the summer. It is a change to the style of professional we have signed over the last few seasons but Michael's playing style will compliment the balance of our side well."

Todmorden's signing leaves just Bacup without a professional for the 2014 season.
