Brief profile of Ryan Eagleson
by Matthew Reed

Player:RL Eagleson

DateLine: 25th October 2005

Ryan Eagleson was one of Ireland’s finest cricketers of the 1990’s, and one of a small number to play county cricket. However Eagleson’s career was severely hampered by a serious back injury, which prevented him making a mark with Derbyshire in 1999. This was unfortunate, as in his few appearances in England he had looked distinctly lively and with a good repertoire of bowling tricks. Although his 2000 season was wiped out, he returned to play for Ireland in the 2001 ICC trophy, where he performed well, despite only playing half the matches. He was also a handy lower order batsman, even if a First-class average of 91 is flattering. In more recent years he has represented Hong Kong in Sixes cricket and was also coach of the Hong Kong cricket club until September 2005, when he returned home to Ireland.
