England captain Michael Vaughan Wednesday praised his bowlers for snatching victory in their Pakistan tour opener but said his faltering batsmen need more practice.

"The batsmen didn't get the practice required but the bowlers got good workouts," said Vaughan, adding that he was "happy" with the bowlers' performances.
England beat Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Patron's XI by 52 runs on the third and final afternoon despite a double collapse by their batsmen.
Defending a modest 158 to stave off an ignominious defeat, England were helped by left-arm spinner Ashley Giles (4-39) and fast rising pacer Liam Plunkett (4-16) to dismiss the hosts for 105 in their second innings.
Vaughan said he would like the batsmen who conquered Australia in the Ashes just two months ago to score more runs in the second warm-up match starting in Lahore Sunday.
"We would like to get a few more runs. Probably we will play our so called Test 11 in the second game, but we haven't established our Test 11 as yet,' said Vaughan, who was among the top order batsmen who failed in the first innings.
"I scored only nine runs. Hopefully in Lahore I will spend some more time in the nets and be in good form before the Test begins."
Plunkett was the pick of English bowlers, taking seven wickets in the match, while James Anderson with three and off-spinner Shaun Udal with five were also successful.
However, frontline pacer Matthew Hoggard failed to take any wickets in the two innings.
The first Test begins in Multan on November 12.(Article: Copyright © 2005 AFP)
