Former Test captain Mark Taylor will lead a selection committee to supervise the appointment of John Buchanan's successor as coach of the Australian cricket team, Cricket Australia announced on Friday.

Buchanan, who has presided over a fruitful period in Australian cricket in his seven years in charge, last month said he would quit after next year's World Cup in the Caribbean.
CA Chairman Creagh OConnor said the committee would comprise Taylor, former captain and CA director Allan Border, CA director Daryl Foster, CA chief executive James Sutherland and CA Operations Manager Michael Brown.
Taylor, now a television cricket commentator, said the selection of the new coach was a far-reaching decision for Australian cricket. The recommendation of a replacement coach will be one of the most important decisions Cricket Australia needs to make in the next 12 months, especially given the benchmark set by John Buchanan during his time in the role," Taylor said in a statement. "The committee will discuss in the next few weeks the process it will use and the criteria it will set for the appointment."
Former Aussie all-rounder and current Sri Lankan team coach Tom Moody and Australian Centre of Excellence coach Tim Nielsen are said to be the frontrunners to replace the hugely successful Buchanan.
