Lou Vincent Profile
by CricketArchive

Player:L Vincent

DateLine: 19th February 2007

He had a great start to his Test career with a century and a half century against Australia at Perth in 2001-02 but thereafter Lou Vincent has never been able touch such lofty heights except perhaps when he got 224 against Sri Lanka at Wellington more than three years later. Essentially a middle order batsman who can play the anchor role to perfection or play strokes freely depending upon the situation Vincent has also opened the batting. He did in fact open the innings on his Test debut but since then has shuttled between the top and middle order. In ODIs he has been a regular opener trying his best to belt every ball and sometimes succeeding gloriously like when he ripped apart the Zimbabwe attack at Bulawayo in August 2005 hammering 172 off 120 balls with 16 fours and nine sixes. But a career average of 25 also means that he has lacked consistency. Vincent had a stint with Worcestershire in 2006.
