Surat:Kerala today reached the Semi Final of the Ranji Trophy Plate Championship after defeating Gujarat convincingly by a margin of 9 wickets in their home turf. The side finished second in the points tally after amassing a total of 13 points in their 5 matches.

Skipper Sony Cheruvathur and Lefthander Rohan Prem shared the blues in their side’s final league match of the season. Sony went in for a magnificent display with the ball in both the innings, striking right through the middle of the Gujarat batting lineup; while Rohan’s century in the first innings was the keystone in the Kerala batting. Quickies Tinu Yohannan and Prasanth Chandran also had made laudable contributions in both the innings with the ball while Stumper Vinan G Nair had an impressive outing with the willow in the second innings.

Kerala reaches the knockout stages for the second time since the introduction of the new format.
