Player: | GJ Hopkins |
DateLine: 3rd June 2008
Hopkins has been on the fringes of the New Zealand team for quite some time now, as the second wicket-keeper/batsman in the squad. He is known to be a safe bet behind the stumps in the domestic circuit and this is proven by the fact that as many as three domestic teams have made a beeline for his services. Ever since his First Class debut, he has played for Northern Districts, Canterbury and Otago, a feat not many Kiwi players can boast of.

He is a staunch batsman, capable of scoring some big runs and in the 2007 season, he scored 514 runs at a stunning average of 85.66. However, he has still been selected to the national squad as a second option, as cover for Brendon Mcullum. This is evident from the fact that he made his ODI debut against England in 2004, but till his last appearance against Australia in 2007, he has played only 5 matches.LATEST SCORES
