An opening batsman, Brenton Parchment has been a slow developer. In 2001 when he captained West Indies Under-19s to a series win in England, with fifties in all three matches, however, he has struggled to build on the positives of that tour. He scored his maiden First-Class ton only in the 2004-05 season and in 2006-07, he scored two tons, 111 and 168, as he averaged 60.33 with the bat. He was rewarded with a call-up to the one-day tour of Zimbabwe and made his Test debut against South Africa in Durban.
