DateLine: 3rd June 2008

At 19 years old, he is one of the youngest players to play international cricket for New Zealand. As a fast swing bowler, he has been blooded early in to the game, as his First Class debut came at just 18 years old, for Northern Districts.

He has played just 14 First Class games, in which he has taken 50 wickets at 26 per piece, which only means that he has a very bright future ahead of him. Also of note is his strike rate of 83 in the longer version of the game, which means that he can be useful in the lower order, or when quick runs are needed. He was the Player-of-the-Tournament in the Under-19 World Cup in 2008, where his 17 wickets helped New Zealand reach the semi-finals.

Given his high credentials, the Kiwi selectors handed him his debut against the visiting England side in March 2008, but he got to play just the solitary Test. However, he made full use of the opportunity given to him as he took his first five wicket haul on debut, taking a handsome 5 for 55. Not only this, he also contributed with the bat, scoring a brisk 77 off just 40 balls, including nine sixes.
