by Webmaster

Scorecard:Bacup v Ramsbottom

DateLine: 13th July 2008

On a wicket prepared by Harris tweed, the former Rammy pro Chris Harris single handedly defeated Ramsbottom in a last gasp finish at Acre Bottom, striking three sixes off the last three balls bowled by Chris Read.

Ramsbottom were restricted to 121 in their innings choosing to bat first on a real under-prepared green wicket and struggled against the medium pace of the Bacup paid man. Harris took 9 wickets for 23. Phil Hayes gave the innings a bright start with 29, but only Wayne Madsen and later in the innings Toby McLean passed the 20 mark.

In reply the whole innings went down to the wire, with 18 required off the last over, Harris took a liking to Chris Read who until then had bowled economically, smiting 21 to take his side home.

It was a procession of wickets, first Mick Haslam struck, then Wayne Madsen and Read followed, but in a patient innings Harris batted for 108 balls before reach 20, then with the last over he delivered the telling blow.
