Blair Campbell played nineteen first-class matches for Victoria and Tasmania between 1969/70 and 1979/80. In reality he played all of these matches in just three seasons, 1969/70 for Victoria, a year where Victoria won the Sheffield Shield, and 1977/78 and 1979/80 for Tasmania. At the end of his career with Tasmania he returned to Victoria and recommenced playing with the Prahran cricket club in the Melbourne District competition, the same club he had played with prior to his move interstate. In the mid 1980s he moved to the Gippsland town of Sale for employment and commuted back to Melbourne for cricket for several more seasons. Eventually he retired from District cricket and commenced to play with the Sale Cricket Club in the Sale-Maffra Association. From 1987/88 to 1990/91 he captained Sale to four consecutive 'A' Grade premierships before controversially transferring to the Collegians club where he played in a further two premierships in 1996/97 and 1997/98 but not as captain. During his eight seasons with Collegians he took 383 1st grade wickets at 12.95. At the end of the 1999/2000 season he left Collegians to make way for his son Stephen to take on the role of 1st grade leg spinner He played two seasons with the Maffra Cricket Club before eventually retiring from all cricket at age 56.
