South Africa thrash Bangladesh by 128 runs to win the series at Benoni. Bangladesh after winning the toss and electing to field were sent on a leather hunt. The home side riding high on a brilliant century from Hashim Amla went on to pile on 358 for 4. It was a complete batting performance from South Africa with everybody chipping in. Amla's innings of 140 from 135 balls was a treat to the eye.
It was the first outing for Graeme Smith in 2 months and he came up with a good half century. The opening stand of 136 set the stage for a South African onslaught. Jacques Kallis then came in and consolidated and from there on it was downhill for Bangladesh. AB de Villiers got a fantastic 23 ball half entury. But Albie Morkel turned the heat on scoring 37 of just 13 balls. The last over went for 22 runs with Bangladesh which took the last powerplay in the last 5 overs for the second match in running were plundered for 66 runs.
Bangladesh chasing a stiff target of 358 were never in the hunt. Siddique and Tamim came up with decent contributions. Botha and Steyn were the pick of the bowlers. Bangladesh was never in the hunt and were finally bowled out for 230 in the final over leaving South Africa victorious by 128 runs and thereby sealing the series 2-0. Hashim Amla who came in place of the indisciplined Herschelle Gibbs was declared the man of the match for his brilliant hundred.Graeme Smith would be very pleased with his own comeback after a couple of months with a wrist injury.
