Pakistan completed a series whitewash against West Indies here at Abu Dhabi. Electing to bat first Pakistan made 273 for 6 in 50 overs. After a couple of early setbacks where they lost their openers, experience came to fore Yunus Khan and Misbah ul Haq made sure that their century stand took Pakistan to safety.
Yunus Khan got a brilliant hundred in quick time and made sure that Pakistan had the momentum going forward. Misbah ul Haq gave him good company and made sure that he stayed till the end. Kamran Akmal as usual played a brilliant cameo in the last over hitting 2 sixes of Jerome Taylor and made sure that Pakistan reached 273 for 6 in 50 overs.Misbah ul Haq remained unbeaten on 79.
Chasing down the target West Indies lost Chattergoon early. But Gayle and Sarwan were involved in a partnership of 151 for the second wicket. It was a brilliant partnership from both of them Gayle was at his usual self getting to his second hundred of the series. He along with Sarwan were going well before Sarwan ran into Rao Iftikar Anjum.Rao got 4 wickets in 4 overs and got Pakistan right back into the match.
Apart from Sarwan and Gayle, who got his second hundred of the series not a single player got runs. Taylor was the third highest scorer with 17.West Indies was eventually all out for 242 in the 47th over losing the match by 31 runs.It was a good win for Pakistan going ahead of the series against India. Under their new coach Intikhab Alam they have started really well and augurs well for Pakistan cricket. On the other hand West Indies who will be going to New Zealand next month they have a lot to ponder about.
