DateLine: 9th March 2009
The Home Ministry on Monday received the revised schedule of the second edition of the Indian Premier League. Union Minister of State for Home Sriprakash Jaiswal confirmed getting the revised schedule. Six new venues - Vadodara, Vishakhapatnam, Nagpur, Cuttack, Ahmedabad and Indore - have been added in the revised schedule.

The Home Ministry has forwarded the revised schedule to the DGPs of the respective states for their view on holding the matches on the revised dates. The IPL organisers are keeping the revised schedule to their chest and will make it public only after getting the clearances from the respective authorities. The sources said that the IPL would get the securities nod soon and will make the schedule public on Monday evening or on Tuesday.
Team owners, expectedly, are finally heaving a sigh of relief. IPL commissioner Lalit Modi had suggested the names of new venues in the wake of security concerns after the attack on Sri Lankan cricketers in Lahore. Meanwhile, the Rajasthan government has requested IPL to bring back the inaugural ceremony to the Pink City and assured every co-operation including adequate security arrangement for the matches scheduled in Jaipur. Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot on Sunday called a top level meeting to review the security situation in this context.
Gehlot has even written a letter to ICC vice president Sharad Pawar and cricket board (BCCI) president Shashank Manohar to pave the way for holding all seven matches of defending champions Rajasthan Royals team in the state.LATEST SCORES
