Simon Jones - England's "King of Swing" It's been an incredible of Test cricket for Simon Jones, and with Ashes fever gripping the nation, Simon has produced some memorable bowling performances, especially with reverse swing, against the Australian batsmen. This special photo gallery pays tribute to the Glamorgan man who has been dubbed by the media as England's "King of Swing". Simon's memorable summer began in the Third Test at Old Trafford, where in Australia's 1st innings, he recorded career-best figures of 6/53, beating his father Jeff's analysis of 6/118 (recorded at Adelaide in 1965/66) which had previously been the best in Test cricket for England by a Glamorgan player. During the game at Manchester, Simon also recorded another personal milestone by becoming the first Glamorgan bowler to take 50 wickets in Test cricket for England, and his match figures of 7/110 were also a club record. Then in the Fourth Test at Trent Bridge, Australia's 1st innings was torn apart as Simon took 5/44 as the men in baggy green caps were forced to follow-on. This was the first time that a Glamorgan bowler had taken 'five fors' in successive Tests for England. However, an ankle injury hampered Simon in the 2nd innings where he bowled just 4 overs, and he had to watch from the Nottingham pavilion as his fellow bowlers bowled Australia out again, before England, in a nail-biting run chase, won the game by 3 wickets to take England into a 2-1 series lead.
