Biography:Ordained 1955, holding positions at Islington and Canning Town before becoming Bishop of Woolwich 1969 and Bishop of Liverpool 1975-97. Created Baron Sheppard of Liverpool in 1998 New Year's Honours. He is one of only two Championship cricketers to become a full bishop (the other was Cecil Wilson, qv)
