Biography:UK Ambassador to Austria 1951-54, and to USA 1956-61. Permanent Under-Secretary, Foreign Office 1961-67. Appointed CMG 1945, KCMG 1950, GCMG 1961 for services to diplomacy, and KCVO 1957 for services to the monarchy. Created Baron Caccia of Abernant 1965.
