Biography:Career soldier who commanded Eighth Army 1944, Allied Land Forces in South Asia 1944-45. Awarded DSO 1916; succeeded his father as 3rd Leese baronet in January 1937. Appointed KCB (knighted) 1943 for military services. Author of various publications on cacti and the growing of succulents. MCC president 1965-66.
