William Wynyard

Biography: | Uniquely, Wynyard was born on St Helena during Napoeon's exile there (1815 -21). His father, Colonel Edward Buckley Wynyard (1780-1865) was military secretary to Sir Hudson Lowe, Governor of St Helena. The Wynyard family lived at Alarm House - being present on the island from May 1816 to June 1820. Colonel Wynyard was later Aide-de-Camp to William IV and was created CB in 1840. |
